2019 Nominations for Paddler of the Year
(club member who has either made the most progress or achievement in paddlesport)

Kayleigh Campbell

Roger Coleman

Aaron Jackson

Chris Marsden

Martin Sinnott

Kayleigh has really grown in confidence and has overcome fears, pushing her own limits.

She has been able to paddle grade 3 white water, like serpents’ tail on the River Dee.  Kayleigh is willing to try any discipline of the sport and is  regular on club paddles.

Roger has recently retired and has the bug for paddling again. He has grabbed every opportunity to paddle and is always willing to help others in the sport.  He paddles his sea kayak at almost every dock session often demonstrating his skills to others.   Roger has attended most club sea paddles over the past year and has recently fulfilled a personal ambition by paddling on the Lofoten Islands expedition in Arctic Norway.

Aaron is one of the most helpful paddlers in the club – nothing is ever too much trouble.  He regularly attends most club sessions and has excelled this year in polo surfing and white-water paddling.  He conquered the wave at Stanley last year and is now fearless on the water.  He paddled everything in the French Alps this year and his roll is now well refined and “bomb-proof”.

Chris Marsden joined us for our first White Water Improver's Led Trip in January this year. He enjoyed it and said he'd like to do more. Chris kept coming back, gaining in confidence and skill. Chris is now out regularly with us and others and has come on really well.

Chris is very humorous but takes his white water kayaking seriously when it comes to safety and approach.

Martin has shown tremendous enthusiasm over the few years with the club.  He regularly attends pool sessions he is now a co-ordinator for the Sunday Docks session and helps with the disabled pool sessions at Halewood.  He has recently conquered rolling, helping other members on Saturday's, and has excelled with his rescue skills.  He is a pleasure to be with and has become a very valued Club member.

2019 Nominations for Young Paddler of the Year
(Under 18 club member who has made either the most progress or achievement in paddlesport)

Poppy Clews

Luke Durband

Aleksander Ford

Harvey Hardwood

Reece Marsden

Poppy has improved immensely this year and is always willing to try new things.  She came 2nd in the West Kirby Race in her own kayak and attends all the junior evenings and club weekends.  She has played polo for the under 14`s and paddles a boat with great skill and style.

I would like to nominate Luke for his achievements in canoe polo over recent years. Not only as he progressed as a paddler, but he even took part in GB trials for the under 21 team. As well as his personal achievements in polo Luke had also supported our teams win a number of trophies this year and have good success in the leagues.

After making the hard decision to set his football aside to focus on his kayaking Alexander has certainly made a great choice.   Having a solid seat in the GB polo training camp he continues to develop his skills and enthusiasm for the sport and is always ready to play.  In the Alps this  year he conquered the mighty Rabioux Wave with ease.   His skill level is amazing, as is his enthusiasm for the sport.  We need more youngsters like this.

Harvey continues to excel at all things playboat.  He is often found in the surf or the bottom wave at JJ`s.   He makes the wave at Stanley seem easy pulling off a variety of moves.

He has also played for the U16 canoe polo team at Liverpool and Hull.

Reece started paddling last September, since then he has developed into a great paddler.  He joined us for our first White Water Improver's Led Trip in January this year. He's done a lot more since, gaining in confidence and skill, constantly aiming to do better than his Dad Chris. Reece is now out regularly with us and others and has come on really well.

2019 Nominations for Volunteer of the Year

(Club member who has given their services to help the club)

John Allerton

Stephen Bond

Ian Colwyn

Dave and Fiona Gentle

Dave Reynolds

John has relentlessly pushed white water paddling along within the club.  Many hours have been spent introducing club members to white water at either the Burrs or Llangollen.  We need many more like him.

Stephen has freely given his time to run the junior club every Tuesday evening throughout the year.   He has a great but firm manner with the kids and has guided many parents and adult helpers in how to run a fun but progressive session with youngsters.

Ian has been the Junior Coordinator for the past year.   He regularly travels from Southport to support junior sessions at the both the pool and docks.

Together Dave & Fi have spent many hours of personal time providing club lead river trips for both beginners and improvers trips.

It’s not just their time either, there's always plenty of good advice on offer for those being led.  A truly relaxed pair of leaders, who instil calm, self-confidence and belief in others around them. Together they provide a great platform for progression. But most of all, always a fun and enjoyable experience on the water!

Dave is a stalwart of the club and without his input many of the sessions simply would not run.  His experience has been invaluable, especially when guiding upcoming volunteers at the pool, docks and junior sessions.   Many paddlers in the club have benefitted from his inciteful analysis and helpful suggestions on ways to improve.
