Minutes
of the Liverpool Canoe Club
Annual
General Meeting held via ZOOM 18/10/2021
Welcome from the
chair & review of the year
Fiona
Barry (FB) Thanked all the volunteers that have coordinated and guided the club
over the past year, running many sessions during lockdown, when many clubs
ceased activities, the club says a big Thank You.
We
have had many new members joining the club over the summer months, and all the
sessions have been extremely busy, for example, the Hilbre Race had one of the
biggest entries yet. Despite the current difficulties, the club has managed to
paddle this year in
many parts of the UK.
.
The
LCC Promotional video was shown and can be viewed at any time on the club
website.

Full
details of the clubs financial position and all transactions can be
viewed on the website by members.
The
club has a healthy bank balance, in part due to an increased membership and
fewer outgoings due to suspended access to the pools.
Expenditure
was on compound upkeep and maintenance, new paddling equipment and boats.
KS
explained that reserves are required to future proof the club if the Canal and River
Trust terminate the lease for the compound, which is renewed annually. It is
vital for our future that club members respect all the other users of the docks
area.
Affiliation
fees will increase next year due to membership numbers as of the 17Oct21 rising
to 852
4.Brief reports from
each discipline (2 minutes each)
Sea

summary by Ian Bell: Started
well but then many trips had to be cancelled due to the Covid Lockdowns,
including Shetland. Dry land theory sessions and endurance sessions were held
in the docks. Alaska was replaced with a successful trip to
the Summer Isles. Small group local paddles organised at last minute. Club
weekends were missed, transition
trips are planned to help move from Docks to Sea.
White
Water

fully booked, and the Easter Scottish trip to the Blackwater Hostel is back on
the calendar.
