Liverpool Canoe Club was formed in 2008 and is an "Open" canoe and kayak club accepting members from every age group and all walks of life. Its aim is to promote paddling opportunities for all its members.

A Brief History of the Club

Several keen Merseyside paddlers met at the West Cheshire Sailing Club on Sunday 26th October 2008 and decided to form a new canoe and kayak club based on the ability to contact each other and arrange paddling opportunities. There would be no need to form committees or organise meetings about meetings. We would just arrange paddles and share knowledge and information with each other. The club would be free to join and open to all interested in paddlesport. Running costs and administration would be kept to a minimum.

As a full member of the club you are covered for third party liability while paddling with the club. If trips or sessions are advertised, individuals will need to make sure that they are suitably experienced for the trip or event. The coordinator should be able to give some guidance and all events will have maximum numbers. If members require advice or further guidance then they should use the clubs messaging system to ask for advice from a club coach or experienced paddler. Under 18`s must be supervised by an adult or guardian while paddling (this may be from the bank or coffee bar at the Marina club)

In 2008 we held our first sea kayaking expedition to Alaska, in 2009 saw members paddling the Chapleau and Nemogosenda Rivers(Canada) in open boats. in 2010 we returned to Prince William sound to cross to Valdez. We are one of the most active clubs in the country with over a 150 trips and paddles a year.

Liverpool Canoe Club prides itself on catering for Club all its Members` canoeing interests and requirements. We aim to provide the maximum canoeing and kayaking opportunities for all our members.
